Don't expect Brisbane Roar coach Rado Vidosic to resort to an Ange Postecoglou-type blast to snap his side out of a slumber that has resulted in their worst start to an A-League season.

The two-time champions have just four points from their opening four matches of the season following an awful performance in their 1-0 home loss to the previously winless and goal-less Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday.

Not since the competition's inception in 2005 have the Roar had so few points after four rounds, with their previous worst being five points.

The slow start is in direct contrast to last season when Brisbane had a perfect record of 12 points from four games.

But ahead of the clash against competition leaders Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium, Vidosic remains calm.

He has every right to tear strips off his players - in similar fashion to former Roar coach Postecoglou's televised lambasting of the Brisbane team at half-time during last season's 3-3 draw with Perth Glory - after their inept display against the Wanderers.

But Vidosic believes that a roasting achieves nothing.

"I always try to be calm. There's no point in blasting them," he said.

"How many times can you blast them? Sooner or later that blast won't have any effect.

"The more important thing is to highlight the real issues and try to solve those problems. That's what coaching is about."

Vidosic said the main problem against the Wanderers was a lack of composure when in possession of the ball.

"That was our worst passing game in the last few years," he said.

"Tired legs and tired minds caused our turning over of the ball."

Vidosic, who denied that his side's 5-0 thrashing of a woeful Melbourne Victory in round two had caused over-confidence, was relieved to have a full week on the training paddock at home after a hectic schedule that has included trips to Perth and Wellington.

"I'm sure we're going to bounce back against Adelaide," he said.

Roar defender Matt Jurman, who said the belief was as strong as ever in the Brisbane camp despite the ordinary start to their title defence.

"We love proving people wrong and I'm sure on Sunday we'll be at our best again," Jurman said.
