Business slams port safety push - The Australian



BUSINESS has hit back at Maritime Union of Australia claims that a proposed new national safety code for the waterfront would prevent unnecessary deaths on the docks.



Members of the MUA held protests at ports and stevedoring offices, saying a new code was needed after last month's death of Newcastle wharfie Greg Fitzgibbon, 56, who was crushed by a pallet of aluminium ingots.
