Dario Vidosic wants his father Rado to succeed as an A-League coach, but family feelings will go on hold this weekend.

Instead, Dario plans to heap more misery on beleaguered Brisbane Roar mentor Rado at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

A key reason for Adelaide United's rise to the top of the A-League ladder, ex-Roar attacker Dario is the man the champions must stop if Brisbane are to recover from their worst start to an A-League season.

While Rado insists he is not feeling any pressure after taking over from Ange Postecoglou, who led the Roar to successive A-League titles before moving to Melbourne Victory, his every move will be scrutinised this season.

"He's definitely enjoying the role but it's always more enjoyable when you're winning," Dario said in assessing Rado's patchy start to life as a head coach after seven years as an assistant.

"They're only five points off the top, which is nothing huge in the A-League.

"Dad's been waiting for this chance and he's planned it very well. After every game they play I call him the next day, sometimes not even by lunchtime, and he's already fully analysed the game and can tell me everything that was good and bad.

"You can see they're still a dangerous team when it all goes right for them. If you fall asleep for a little bit, they will punish you.

"Being the champions is a privilege to have but it doesn't mean it's a free ride where everybody comes and gives them the three points easily.

"When you play the champions, you lift that little bit more because you want to beat them. We're coming and we want to stay on top."

With Dario set to stay in Brisbane for an extra day or two after the game, bragging rights in the Vidosic household are also up for grabs.

"I definitely want to spend those few days being able to say we were the winners, give it to my dad a little bit and be the main guy in the house," Dario said.

Rado admits that after the Roar, Adelaide is the team he follows the closest because of Dario's involvement with the Reds.

"This is his best season so far," Rado said.

"The way they are playing in Adelaide really suits him. The freedom that he's got suits him.

"(But) you need to prepare for everyone and he's not the only one that can cause us problems. It's going to be a very interesting game because both teams can hurt each other."

Dario, 25, is in his second season with the Reds after returning to the A-League following a four-year stint in Germany, where at one stage, he was a teammate of current Roar star Besart Berisha at Arminia Bielefeld.

"It's definitely a goal of mine to go overseas again," he said.
