A 54-year-old Department of Family and Community Services case worker in custody over child sex abuse allegations is expected to make a bail application in Newcastle Local Court tomorrow.
He made a brief appearance in the court this morning wearing a dark suit and striped tie while his solicitor made the adjournment application.
The court heard that the adjournment would also allow for police to apply for a forensic procedure, which his solicitor indicated would be opposed.
The Hunter-based worker was arrested on Friday and charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault over the alleged sexual abuse of a nine-year-old girl.
He has been stood down from his employment with the department and the girl has been removed from the man’s partner’s home.
