THE Australian Taxation Office has targeted Nathan Tinkler's sporting assets in its ongoing pursuit of the one-time billionaire, putting the future of two of the nation's top-flight football clubs at risk.
The ATO applied yesterday for rugby league's Newcastle Knights and soccer's Newcastle Jets to be wound up, along with the Hunter Sports Group - the Tinkler-owned company that controls both - on grounds of insolvency over unpaid debts.
