AN investment banker has been unable to explain why the Obeids were paid nearly $15,000 a month -- about 20 times as much as their neighbours -- by a mining company seeking access to their properties for coal exploration.
Anthony Levi, who prepared a list of expenses for Cascade Coal, was asked to explain the discrepancy yesterday at a hearing in Sydney of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, but was unable to do so.
