Emergency evacuations in towns around Grafton as river rises - The Australian

EX-tropical cyclone Oswald smashed its way through NSW yesterday, with ferocious winds, rain and wild surf hammering communities on the north coast and forcing thousands to leave their homes.

Authorities late yesterday ordered emergency evacuations in towns around Grafton as a dramatic rise in the Clarence River took them by surprise and headed for an expected peak of 7.9m, higher than in 2001 and 2011.
