The "Real Deal" Geale defeated Mundine in a unanimous points decision with a commanding display.
Geale was in control for the majority of the 12 rounds and despite Mundine insisting he had won, Geale triumphed in the return bout between two of Australia's top boxers.
There was a tense delay after the fight as the scores were tallied, re-counted and checked again, before the unanimous victory was read out to the relief of the crowd.
Geale won with scores of 116-112, 117-111, 117-111.
"It was tough, it was exactly what we expected," Geale said after the fight.
"Anthony came prepared and he gave me a great fight. It was hard there towards the end, but I had to dig deep.
"I wanted to win and I wanted to do it well. I put things to rest. Everyone wanted to see the second fight, I gave it to you guys and I hope you enjoyed it.
"I knew it was going to be tough, I just had to keep peppering. I hurt him a few times and I'm a little bit disappointed I couldn't go on with it and give the crowd what they wanted [a knockout]."
World-ranked featherweight and rising star Joel Brunker collected his biggest scalp yet in former WBO super flyweight champion Ivan Hernandez last night.
Fighting on the undercard of the Geale-Anthony Mundine fight, the 2004 Australian Olympic representative controlled the eight-round bout earned the judges' favour by scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 78-75.
Newcastle's Daniel Ammann (27-5-1, 6 KOs) retained his Australian cruiserweight title with a 10-round unanimous points win over David Aloua (8-1, 5 KOs).
American Kimbo Slice scored a knockout victory over Shane Tilyard while Lauryn Eagle beat Nadine Brown in the first fight of the night.
