Armed hold ups at sex shop, newsagency - ABC Online

Police are investigating two separate armed robberies in the Newcastle region, at a sex shop at Charlestown and a Hamilton South newsagency.


At 5:30am (AEDT) this morning, two men armed with knives and with their faces covered, went into the newsagency on Hassall Street.


They left with cigarettes and cash.


Police say at 8:00pm (AEDT) last night, two men armed with a tomahawk and knife, went into a sex shop on the Pacific Highway.


They demanded cash and threatened the 20-year-old female shop assistant.


The men, believed to be aged in their late teens or early twenties, ran off with a sum of money.


They were both wearing black track suits with hoods.
