There are calls for the Obeid family assets to be frozen while the ICAC investigates former MP Eddie Obeid's potential 'criminal conspiracy' over coal exploration deals in NSW.
Greens MP John Kaye says Premier Barry O'Farrell should ask the Crime Commission to obtain a freezing order under laws relating to assets acquired as a result of serious crime activity and corruption.
'If allegations before ICAC are true, NSW taxpayers may have been ripped off to the tune of many hundreds of millions of dollars,' Mr Kaye said in a statement on Tuesday.
'The premier must without delay move to request the Crime Commission to apply to the Supreme Court to freeze all of the Obeid family assets.
'Mr O'Farrell should today refer the matter of a freezing order to the Crime Commission.'
The ICAC is inquiring into claims that former mines minister Ian Macdonald rigged a 2008 tender process for coal exploration licences in the Bylong Valley, west of Newcastle, and whether the Obeids gained financial benefit from it.
Last week, Mr Obeid's son Moses revealed that decisions by Mr Macdonald could have reaped the Obeid family around $75 million.
Mr Obeid, who has denied any wrongdoing, is to continue giving evidence at the ICAC on Tuesday.
