THE Cowboys will head to Newcastle tomorrow intent on becoming the best travelling team in the club's history, boosted by their record in regional centres.
North Queensland have not lost in Newcastle, Gosford, Wollongong or Canberra since 2010.
That is in contrast to Sydney where, other than at Cronulla, successes have been far between over the past five years.
Winger Ashley Graham said North Queensland was as confident travelling as he had experienced since joining the club in 2006.
"It doesn't really matter where we play, I suppose it all comes down to our preparation," he said.
"As long as we're doing everything we can to prepare for the games we put ourselves in good stead to win those matches and this weekend will be nothing different.
"Our high-performance unit have definitely put in processes that enable us to feel fresh and ready to go when it comes to kick-off and it's obviously working."
The Cowboys equalled the club's record for most wins on the road last year, managing seven from 12 regular season games. But after starting the season with a 24-12 victory at Gosford's Bluetongue Stadium against the Canterbury Bulldogs a fortnight ago, Graham said they were aiming to create even more history in 2013.
"We were happy with getting that record last year after we've struggled away from Townsville previously, but we're still not happy with seven-from-12," said Graham, who will play his 150th game for the Cowboys on Monday. "We'd like to win them all."
Chuck in that North Queensland have won their past five Monday night clashes and the signs are positive for the Cowboys ahead of their Hunter Stadium showdown.
Lock Dallas Johnson warned the Wayne Bennett-coached Knights would be looking to hit back hard after the 32-0 loss to Manly.
"I'm pretty certain what mentality they'll come in with after last weekend, they won't be very happy with that performance," he said.
