7.53pm AEDT Knights up by 18 at half-time
The Newcastle Knights have taken a commanding 24-6 lead into the break after two tries to Dane Gagai just before half-time. The centre's double and a Kurt Gidley penalty saw the Knights extend their advantage after they had earlier fought back from an early deficit. And it could have been worse for the Tigers, with only desperate defence stopping Anthony Quinn from getting the ball down after he crossed the line in the shadows of half-time.

7.34pm AEDT Knights hit the front
Newcastle have taken a 10-6 lead at Hunter Stadium thanks to some Akuila Uate magic. The brilliant winger made a huge bust from a kick return, then was on hand a couple of plays later to score in the corner as the Knights hit the front for the first time in the match - just after the 22-minute mark. Earlier Adam Blair had put the Tigers ahead with a close-range try, before James McManus crossed for Newcastle's opening four-pointer.
