Newcastle Jets are to re-seat their own members for the A-League final-round clash with Western Sydney Wanderers to accommodate the extra demand from the visitors' vast travelling fanbase.
The Jets, after consultation with Football Federation Australia, Newcastle Police and Hunter Stadium management, decided to take the unusual step of allocating different seats to their members.
It will free up extra space for Wanderers fans, who are expected to show up in force despite the possibility their team might have already won the Premiers' Plate.
"We have been in discussions with the FFA, Newcastle Police and Hunter Stadium for a number of weeks about accommodating the estimated 6000 plus supporters that will travel for this game at Hunter Stadium," Jets chief executive Robbie Middleby said.
"This was a decision agreed upon by all parties and one that has been undertaken with the best interests of our members to ensure they enjoy the final home game of the season."
It is the latest sign of the impact table-topping Western Sydney, who continued their fairytale season on the weekend with a 10th consecutive win, have had on the competition.
Newcastle members will receive a match-day ticket this week and are being allocated seats within close proximity to their usual spot.
