Danny Simpson set for West Brom switch from Newcastle - The Sun

WEST BROM are ready to pounce for Danny Simpson.

Albion are set to make a lucrative offer to secure the Newcastle right-back when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

They have been without first choice Steven Reid for most of the season, with injury restricting the Republic of Ireland star to just 10 appearances.

Baggies boss Steve Clarke has been forced to use three other players in his position but has now pinpointed Simpson as his long-term replacement.

Simpson, 26, has been at loggerheads with the Toon hierarchy for the past 18 months about extending his contract.

They have been reluctant to match his £30,000-a-week demands, a significant hike on the £18,000 he currently earns.
