For the past week fire-fighters, forestry workers and National Parks and Wildlife staff have been fighting a fire in the Wollembi National Park in the Upper Hunter.
A total of 150 personnel are working around the clock on rotating shifts to keep the fire under control.
It's been named the "Sheepskin Complex fire" and it's now burnt out 20,000 hectares of the Wollemi National Park - one of many fires that have hit the park this season.
Around 180,000 hectares have been burnt out so far, just under half of the size of the park .
Rock-Wallabies - which are currently listed as an endangered species under the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act, face a number of threats already - which is why fires are even more of a concern.
Peta Norris, the Upper Hunter Area Manager for National Parks Wildlife Service, is happy with the combined effort of all concerned.
"I think it's a really great example of a whole bunch of people from a whole bunch of different backgrounds coming together for a common cause".
