A MAN has lost a finger and knuckle after being attacked by a shark on the NSW mid-north coast earlier today.
Paramedics found the 29-year-old man at Kylie's Beach, south of Port Macquarie, with numerous shark bites to his right thigh and hand after responding to a triple-0 call at about 10.45am.
The medical team initially remained on scene and administered pain relief and fluids. A spokeswoman for the NSW Ambulance Service said the shark attack victim had been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle to undergo further treatment.
It is believed he was bitten by a bull shark.
