Seating upgrade for Jets members - ABC Online

The Newcastle Jets say they are making some changes to members seating allocations for the last home game of the season after receiving advice from Football Federation Australia and local police.

The Jets will host Western Sydney on Friday March 29, with up to 6,000 Wanderers fans expected to attend.

Jets CEO Robbie Middleby says the club is upgrading some ticket holders and they will be contacted this week.

He says it is going to be a big game with the Jets vying for a finals spot and the Wanderers playing for the minor premiership title.

"So when you're to bring that many supporters from a club to Newcastle, you want them to be together," he said.

"That was a recommendation from the FFA, Newcastle police and Hunter Venues, and we thought it was best to upgrade our members and have them together."

There have been several incidents in the crowd at Wanderers games this season but Middleby says the changes are about making it more enjoyable for all fans.

"It wasn't about the violence," he said.

"It was more about making the game day enjoyable for our members and make sure they're in the right location and to make sure the atmosphere for those Western Sydney Wanders supporters is all together.

"With the FFA and Newcastle police and Hunter Venues - it was all there recommendation - and we abided by it, and we thought that this is the best option for our members and supporters."
