Emile Heskey extends Newcastle Jets stay - Express.co.uk





EMILE HESKEY has signed a new contract with Newcastle Jets which will keep him in Australia until 2014.

The former England striker moved Down Under in September and has scored nine goals in 23 appearances for the Jets, who are eighth in the A-League.


Heskey has been nominated for the club's player-of-the-year award and the ex-Liverpool man wants to help his side into the top six nest season.


Heskey said: "I'm pleased to be extending my stay in Newcastle for another year.


"Everyone has made me feel very welcome here and I've really enjoyed my first season playing for the Jets.

"I'm looking forward to getting a full pre-season under my belt and helping the team push for a finals place next season."


Delighted head coach Gary van Egmond said: "It's great to have Emile here for another season.


"He brings a wealth of experience to our squad with everything he's achieved in his career.


"His performances in his first season with us were excellent and we're looking forward to seeing more of the same from him next year."
