EMILE HESKEY has signed a new contract with Australian side Newcastle Jets until 2014.
The 35-year-old moved Down Under in September and went on to score nine goals in 23 appearances for the Jets, earning himself a nomination for the club’s Player of the Year award.
And the former Liverpool man is now looking to fire Newcastle into a top-six place next term after missing out on the finals series this season.
He said: "I’m pleased to be extending my stay in Newcastle for another year.
“Everyone has made me feel very welcome here and I’ve really enjoyed my first season playing for the Jets.
“I’m looking forward to getting a full pre-season under my belt and helping the team push for a finals place next season.”
