I say it every time I write one of these liveblogs (which seems to be once a week. I feel your pain, I really do) but the Europa League has been absolutely, unironically, straight-faced 10/10 this season.
So many goals. So many competent but gloriously flawed teams. So much fun.
The latest installment kicks off in an hour in not-so-sunny Moscow, in front of hardly anyone because it's taking place miles away from where the team is from, and with Chelsea holding a comfortable lead.
Then it's off to slightly sunnier Basle, where Spurs need to pull of something of a rescue mission with a good deal of their key names unavailable.
Cocurrently, in the positively tropical environs of Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle will be praying for an early goal and that Benfica are suddenly about half as good.
It's not a classic evening on paper. It never is. I almost guarantee you that it will surprise us and be absolutely incredible. It always is.
Three cheers for everything!
Team news and more to follow, stay tuned.
