Newcastle fans Toon in to ITV phwoar and watch presenter Hipgrave steal the ... - Daily Mail

Newcastle's glamour tie with Benfica caught the eye of football fans... and it wasn't just for the entertainment on the pitch.


TV presenter Lynsey Hipgrave was the talk of social networking site Twitter after an impressive Europa League debut for ITV4 on Thursday night.


The 33-year-old Newcastle United fan - and BBC Radio 5 Live presenter - was promoted to the hot seat after fronting Europa League and Premier League matches for the Arabic sports channel
Al Jazeera.

One fan, Jerry Pembleton tweeted: 'Someone called Lynsey Hipgrave doing the ITV coverage on Newcastle. Already like her more than Adrian Chiles.'


And another, Jack Brough added: 'Lynsey Hipgrave on the tele-box. Making the footie even more enjoyable!'


Unfortunately for Hipgrave she will not be able to present any more Newcastle matches in Europe this season as Alan Pardew's side lost 4-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw at St James' Park.


Hipgrave is married to Toploader guitarist and Manchester United fan Dan Hipgrave, the former husband of Gail Porter.
