“The landscape in football is changing,” Leonardo told Gazzetta dello Sport. “That is one of the reasons why guys like [Eden] Hazard and [Olivier] Giroud have left [Ligue 1], but I like the idea of luring great French players back.
Although Newcastle would be resistant to any attempts to lure Cabaye away from St James’ Park, Nasri’s inconsistent performances for City could prompt the club to consider offloading the former Arsenal midfielder.
The 25-year-old has been criticised by manager Roberto Mancini for his City performances this season, prompting the Italian to claim that he would like to ‘punch’ Nasri due to his inconsistency.
While Leonardo has publicly admitted PSG’s interest in Nasri, however, the former AC Milan coach played down the prospect of moves for Ronaldo, Rooney and Napoli forward Edinson Cavani.
"There has never been an offer for Cristiano Ronaldo and I never heard the names of Cavani and Rooney either," Leonardo said.
"A lot of players would like to come to PSG and I cannot rule out big-money signings, but only if the chance is there."
