Alan Pardew sorry for Newcastle defeat at Arsenal “joke” - The Sun

ALAN PARDEW has issued a grovelling apology for saying he did not care if Newcastle were thrashed in their last game of the season.

Fans reacted angrily after the Toon boss said he would not mind if they lost 4-0 to Arsenal on Sunday after securing their Prem status.

But Pardew, 51, said his remark was “a joke”. He added: “It is definitely not the case that I’d be happy for us to lose 4-0.

“I simply want our players and fans to be able to enjoy the game without looking over their shoulders.”
