Queens Park Rangers v Newcastle United: match preview - Telegraph.co.uk

QPR (Possible, 4-4-2): Green; Ben Haim, Hill, Onuoha, Traore; Townsend, Jenas, Mbia, Park; Rémy, Zamora.

Out: Wright-Phillips (ankle), Johnson, Samba (both knee).

Newcastle (Possible, 4-2-3-1): Elliot; Débuchy, S Taylor, Coloccini, Santon; Tioté, Gutierrez; Marveaux, Cabaye, Goufrran; Cissé.

Out: Krul (dislocated shoulder), Haïdara (hamstring) Sissoko, Sh Ameobi, R Taylor, Vuckic (all knee).

Team News

QPR will be without defender Chris Samba, who has a knee problem.

Shaun Wright-Phillips and Andrew Johnson will miss the remainder of the season, both having undergone surgery.

Meanwhile, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will be able to welcome back a trio of key players for Sunday's Premier League trip to QPR.

Full-back Mathieu Débuchy is available once again after serving a one-match ban, while fellow defender Davide Santon (hamstring) and midfielder Sylvain Marveaux (groin) have returned to training and are in contention.

However, midfielder Moussa Sissoko and striker Shola Ameobi will not play again this season after joining goalkeeper Tim Krul and full-back Massadio Haïdara on the casualty list, while midfielder Sammy Ameobi is available after returning from his loan spell at Middlesbrough.

Match Notes

Wigan's home defeat to Swansea has thrown Newcastle a rope, but they still have to haul themselves to safety.

A win at QPR should guarantee them a place in the top flight next season, but they have been poor away all season so nothing can be taken for granted.

Rangers are already preparing for life in the Championship and are playing with a freedom that makes them difficult to predict.

Betting: Home 21-20, Away 13-10, Draw 23-10.

Stat of the game: QPR have won just two home games; even a win here will see them set a club record for fewest home victories (previously it was 4).

Luke Edwards' prediction: Queens Park Rangers 1 Newcastle United 1.
