Racing teams have the right formula - ABC Online

Three tracks were set up inside the club and over 100 students and teachers witnessed the cars race each other on the scale drag strips at speeds of around 100km an hour.

Swift Ignition, an all girl team from Maitland Grossman High School enjoyed the engineering involved, were excited to compete and came second in their class.

Students are encouraged to form teams and seek sponsorship from the community, some groups even seek out professional help like Supersonic Speed from Merewether High School who had their wheels made from aluminium at One Steel at Waratah, and this gave them an edge as other 3D printed wheels had overheating issues due to their plastic construction.

Program manager Ashley Cox said it's a great way to encourage the study of science and engineering in early high school students.
