MANCHESTER City has closed to within four points of leaders Manchester United at the top of the English Premier League table with a 2-0 victory over Fulham.
Elsewhere, Reading pulled off a remarkable 2-1 win at Newcastle United, QPR drew 1-1 at West Ham United, Liverpool hammered Norwich City 5-0 and Sunderland beat Wigan Athletic 3-2.
At the Etihad Stadium, David Silva followed up as an Edin Dzeko shot was parried to give Manchester City an early lead and got his second of the game from a neat Carlos Tevez pass after 69 minutes.
Newcastle's Yoann Cabaye marked his return from injury with a 36th-minute free-kick, but two goals from substitute Adam LeFondre gave Reading an unlikely win.
He got the first after 71 minutes, two minutes after coming off the bench, scrambling in a Jimmy Kebe cross.
The second came six minutes later as he latched onto a mishit Hope Akpan shot to finish in some style.
Reading remain in the relegation zone only on goal difference.
They are level with Wigan who lost 3-2 to Sunderland. Ronnie Stam opened the scoring after four minutes as his shot deflected in off David Vaughan.
But Craig Gardner levelled from a soft penalty after 19 minutes and Steven Fletcher put Sunderland ahead five minutes later, converting an Alfred N'Diaye cross at the second attempt.
Fletcher lashed in his second of the game three minutes before half-time from an Adam Johnson lay-off.
With 11 minutes remaining debutant, on loan from Manchester United, headed in Shaun Maloney's cross but Sunderland held out.
Loic Remy struck on his debut for Queen's Park Rangers as they drew 1-1 at West Ham United.
The France international ran on to Adel Taraabt's through-ball after 16 minutes and finished calmly.
But Joe Cole levelled with his first goal since his return to West Ham, following in to tuck in the rebound after Julio Cesar had brilliantly saved Carlton Cole's header.
Jordan Henderson thumped in a stunning goal after half an hour to give Liverpool the lead as they romped to a 5-0 win over Norwich City.
Luis Suarez added a second before half-time before Daniel Sturridge converted Stewart Downing's cross to become the first Liverpool player since Ray Kennedy in 1974 to score in each of his first three games.
Steven Gerrard hammered his sixth goal of the season and a Ryan Bennett own goal made it 5-0.
Ben Davies dodged through two challenges to score his first goal for the club just after half-time and Jonathan De Guzman fired in a second with a 25-yard free-kick as Swansea City beat Stoke City 3-1.
De Guzman added his second of the game after fine work from Danny Graham. Michael Owen, coming off the bench, pulled one back in injury-time with his 15oth Premier League goal.
