GOOD morning, fellow Catholics. On this, my first day on the job, I'd like to have a bit of a chat. To explain what I'm feeling and considering. Whereas my predecessor was described as "God's Rottweiler", I'd prefer to be God's Labrador - a likable seeing-eye dog, guiding the Church from its doctrinal blindness.
First up, I will make no claim of infallibility. That's one of the sillier papal policies. I'm a human being, with all the usual frailties. All I can do is try; to take the best advice and think things through. I'll want all my utterances to be discussed and challenged.
