ADELAIDE United stopper Nigel Boogaard is in doubt with a hamstring injury for the clash against Newcastle Jets away on Saturday.
Boogaard will today have scans to assess the extent of the damage after he was forced off the pitch during the second half of the 3-0 win over Sydney FC on New Year's Eve at Hindmarsh.
Boogaard's expected absence means coach John Kosmina will look for a new stopper to partner Iain Fyfe in the heart of defence.
Daniel Bowles played in the stopper's role after he was shifted from right back on Monday night to cover for Boogaard's absence.
But Antony Golec who hardly put a foot wrong when he was first choice stopper earlier in the season is looming to win back his spot after spending several weeks with the Reds reserves side.
Cassio isn't sure if Boogaard will be fit enough to resume against the Jets in his home state but declared the Reds have enough depth to cover for the big stopper's absence.
"Whoever comes in I'm pretty sure and confident that he would do a good job for us," Cassio said after training at Hindmarsh Stadium this morning.
"The coaching staff Mickey (Valkanis) tries to work with the back four, always changing players and that's helped a bit when players have an opportunity to play (slot in) like now.
"It doesn't change much for us whoever comes in will do the job."
