There are long holiday traffic queues in both directions on the Pacific Highway on the New South Wales.

As of 1:00pm (AEDT) worst affected spot is Kempsey, on the mid-north coast where the jam is 10km long northbound and 2kn long south bound.

That adds 45 minutes and 10 minutes respectively to journey times.

Further north there is a 6km southbound queue at Macksville and a 4km southbound queue at Woolgoolga, while traffic at Woodburn is also slow southbound.

There is a 3km queue southbound at Hexham, near Newcastle.

South of Sydney, southbound traffic is slow on the Princes Highway at Gerringong and Berry, while at Nowra it is northbound lanes that are affected.

There is a 10km tailback for drivers heading north at Ulladulla.

Last week there was a 25km queue at Kempsey, adding over 90 minutes to northbound travel times.
