Keep listening to 1233 for your chance to win last-minute tickets to this exclusive event, which will be held at Maitland City Bowls, Sport and Recreation Club from 7pm Friday, May 17. (the club is near Rutherford shopping centre)
Unlike traditional Blue Light discos this one will be for over-18s, and no matter your vintage you can relive the decade that taste forgot.
We'll be choosing the Best Dressed blue lighters on the night, who'll win ABC vouchers. Guests will be invited to make a donation to St John's Ambulance.
1233's traffic guy, Dave Wright, will be there, along with presenters and 1233 staff in their best 80s-inspired outfits.
But of course the big attraction on the night will be the 1980s music, featuring everything from Dexys Midnight Runners to Blondie.
This week 1233 has been playing hits of the 80s, as well as exploring the food, music and events of the era.
And Jill Emberson found Blue Light discos are not just a relic of the 80s but are still going strong in the Hunter.
Senior Constable Michael Steele runs a monthly Blue Light disco at Maitland which attract hundreds in the 13-and-under age bracket.
He says the events create a positive connection between young people and the police.
"Some of the kids that come along to our Blue Light, their only interactions with police sometimes are a negative interaction," he says.
"So when the kids come along and see you in a different light, it just builds a better bridge with the kids."
