Meet the Mob: Kyle Shilling - ABC Local

Kyle struggled to get a sound out of the instrument when he was a kid and instead began mimicking its sound like a beat-boxer. Now he can play it both ways: with just his mouth or with the instrument.

But dance is Kyle Shillings' really strong card. He's refined this skill as a student at the National Aboriginal and Islander Skills Development Association (NAISDA) Dance College on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

In December 2013, Kyle choreographed an item at NAISDA's end of year performance at CarriageWorks in Sydney.

For Meet the Mob Kyle Shilling told Jill Emberson how as a young boy, he scoffed at the idea of dancing, but now he wants the world to know all about it.

EXTRA: Listen to Kyle replicating a didgeridoo with only his mouth.

Hosted by Jill Emberson, Mornings presenter on 1233 ABC Newcastle, Meet the Mob is a weekly profile of Aboriginal people in the Hunter region of New South Wales.
