Newcastle's “uphill challenge” is not just in Europe - Here Is The City

As Newcastle face a challenge to remain in the Europa League, their bigger challenge could be in securing Premier League survival.

Following Newcastle United’s 3-1 loss to Benfica in the Europa League, boss Alan Pardew said his side faced an “uphill challenge” to reach the next round.

But that phrase could just as easily be applied to the Magpies’ Premier League campaign, as they face a challenge of similar proportions to avoid relegation…or at least a dalliance with the prospect.
